Privacy Policy

Gramo ("we," "us," or "our") is a protein tracking app that helps you understand your daily protein intake. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Gramo:

• Apple ID information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier and, optionally, your email address (which may be a private relay address). We do not receive your Apple ID password.
• Body weight (optional): If you choose to enter your weight to calculate a protein goal, we store this value. You can skip this step and set a manual goal instead.
• Food descriptions: The text you type to describe what you ate. This is sent to our AI service to estimate protein content.
• Protein estimates: The protein range (minimum and maximum grams) returned by our AI for each food description you submit.
• Goal settings: Your daily protein target and the calculation preferences used to determine it.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide the Gramo service:

• Authentication: Your Apple ID identifier is used to create and manage your account.
• Protein estimation: Your food descriptions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate protein estimates. Each description is sent independently -- we do not send your history, daily totals, or any personal information to the AI.
• Progress tracking: Your entries and daily totals are stored so you can view your history and track progress against your goal.
• Goal calculation: If provided, your weight is used only to calculate a suggested protein target. It is not shared with any third party.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Apple Sign-In: For authentication. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude API): To process food descriptions and generate protein estimates. Only the food description text is sent to this service -- no personal information, account details, or usage history. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect location data.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data.
• We do not use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. We store all your entries and daily summaries so you can access your full history.

When you delete your account (available in Settings), all your data is permanently and immediately removed from our servers. This includes your user profile, all food entries, all daily summaries, and your goal settings. There is no grace period and no recovery -- deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: All your data is visible within the app (entries, daily totals, history).
• Delete your data: You can delete individual entries or your entire account from Settings. Account deletion permanently removes all associated data.
• Edit your data: You can edit the text of any food entry, which triggers a new protein estimate.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit and secure database storage. Your authentication is handled through Apple Sign-In, which uses strong cryptographic verification.

Children's Privacy

Gramo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
